Paintings

In Atwood by the stairs there are several couches and some comfortable chairs where I like to do homework. Here I found a piece of art called Sweet Sounds Rose Slowly, by Virginia Bradley. It’s mixed media on berch panel. It has great use of color and has lots of detail. What I really like about it the most is the texture in it. Since it’s on thick birch panel the artist carved into it on some areas, which gives it lots of depth. There is also a great use of color. Most of it is pretty neutral tones like yellow and light green, but then in the middle of it there is a dark crimson red. I love red. In the bottom corner of the painting there is an angel, but you wouldn’t notice it unless you actually take the time to look into the painting. There is what seems like another angel on the top with a wing going down the middle. The middle is the part carved into the panel. I love it! Check it out sometime.


I don’t believe there should be bans on art. The whole point of art is for the artist to express themselves and their feelings. There shouldn’t be restrictions on their feelings. If people think it’s inappropriate that’s their problem. Nobody is forcing them to look at it.
